Tri-State Outing
The Raptor Trust

The Tri-State Budgerigar Society has a special Saturday outing planned for club members and their families. This outing will be in place of our usual Sunday meeting. We've made reservations for an educational field trip to The Raptor Trust on Saturday, April 20. Those registered for the trip will meet as a group at The Raptor Trust at 1:45 p.m. No transportation is provided. We are each responsible for getting ourselves there.

To start off the program, at 2:00 p.m. the group will meet with the Raptor Trust staff for a one-hour educational program called "The Raptor Trust Story," We'll learn how The Raptor Trust came to be and how they rehabilitate birds in their care. We'll also receive information about the raptors housed there, including owls, hawks, falcons, eagles and other species. Afterwards, we will be free to self-guide ourselves through the outdoor display aviaries that house the Trust's 50 non-releasable resident raptors. To find out more, visit the Raptor Trust's very nice website at http://www.theraptortrust.org.

All Tri-State members are asked to respond as soon as possible to let us know whether or not they are interested. This outing will also be open to another NJ club that we have a reciprocal agreement with. In addition, information is posted on the club website for the benefit of any other interested persons. There is a charge to the club so there will be a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Also, we are limited to 30 participants in our group.

People interested in going as a member of the group need to register in advance with Joyce D'Accardi at wingsofjoy4@gmail.com or (732) 462-5616 with a name, number of people attending, and provide a phone number and email address. She will start a list of individuals as she gets names. Those who register beyond the group-size limit will go on a waiting list. If that happens, Joyce will go down the list a couple days before April 20 to remind and confirm if the persons are still planning on attending. People waiting for a group spot may still get one. Anyone who wishes to go, even at the last minute, could still go and visit the facility on their own that day or any other day but would not get the educational program. If you go on your own to just walk around at your leisure, a donation of at least $2 is suggested per person.
